Jolie’s acting career took off like wildfire after her performance in the movie George Wallace which aired on TNT in 1997. However, she actually started performing much earlier when she had a small role in a film starring and written by Jon Voight, her father. The movie was called “Looking to Get Out” and was released in 1982. Jolie also performed in movies such as “Hackers”, “Without Evidence”, “Love Is All There Is”, “Mojave Moon” and “Playing God”. During this time, she appeared in a variety of music videos for Lenny Kravitz, The Lemonheads, The Rolling Stones and Meat Loaf.

In 1998, Angelina Jolie wowed the audience with her performance as Gia Carangi in HBO’s original production of “Gia”. Her performance was so moving that she received a Golden Globe Award as well as a Screen Actor’s Guild Award. Next, she acted in “Hell’s Kitchen”, “Playing by Heart” and “Pushing Tin”. Jolie received her worst criticism at the time for her role in “The Bone Collector” (with Denzel Washington). Although the movie grossed 151 million dollars, critics stated that she was terribly miscast. In 2000, she was cast in “Gone in 60 Seconds” which proved to be her highest grossing film, though she only had a small role.

Jolie became a household name from her role in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”. She became a worldwide acting sensation and earned a hearty 7 million dollars. In the sequel “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life”, earned a whopping 12 million dollars which established her as the highest paid actress of all time.

Jolie appeared with Johnny Depp in “The Tourist“. But her role opposite her longtime lover, Brad Pitt in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” gained her a nice 10 million dollar paycheck. She also raked in a cool 10 million dollars for her roles in “A Mighty Heart” and “The Good Shepherd”. Jolie earned a mere 8 million dollars for her effort in “Beowulf” however; she brought 15 million dollars to the bank for her role in “Wanted”. Angelina’s total net worth is right around 120 million dollars and that’s after her giving half of her earnings to charity.

So, how much is 120 million dollars?

Jolie could buy 12, 060,301 mosquito nets for kids in third world nations infested with mosquitoes carrying malaria. Or, she could liquidate her assets and pay for 34,285,714 school lunches for kids in the U.S.

Knowing that Jolie has affection for orphans and children who have been put up for adoption, she could adopt 6,486 more kids. That would require a dinner table approximately 3,5 miles long (5,5 km). However, she would need to make more movies to pay to feed, house and clothe them.
