Name: Beyoncé Giselle Knowles
Born: 4 September 1981
Occupation: Singer, Record producer, Actress, Fashion Designer, Model
Beyoncé grew up in Houston, Texas and first began singing in the St. John’s Church choir. As a young child she was in many talent competitions for both singing and dancing. As a teenager she attended The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She began her career as the most noted singer in the trio known as Destiny’s Child which was discovered by Whitney Houston. She reportedly earned $1.6 million as a member of Destiny’s Child from 1998 to 2006. Although the group was both popular and successful, Beyoncé decided to focus on her solo career, releasing her first solo album in 2003. To date she has four solo albums.
Her first venture into acting was playing Foxxy Cleopatra in the Austin Powers movie Goldmember. She has also appeared in The Fighting Temptations, The Pink Panther, Dreamgirls, and Obsessed. Her acting jobs have earned her a reported $5 million. Beyoncé also has a clothing line with her mother called “House of Dereon,” which reportedly averages between $10-15 million a year. Her numerous celebrity endorsements include everything from Pepsi to a variety of beauty care products including L’Oréal, with whom she’s been working with since she was 18. In 2010 and 2011, endorsements earned her another $20 million. Touring also provides much of her net worth, with her earning $130 million from her I Am World Tour alone.
On April 4, 2008 Beyoncé married long time boyfriend, rapper/producer/songwriter Jay-Z. Just shy of four years later Beyoncé gave birth to their first child who they named Blue Ivy Carter. To date, we estimate her net worth at $300 million (GBP $185,820,000 million).
So how much is $300,000,000 dollars really?
If Beyoncé was interested in purchasing some new CDs for her collection, she could buy 20,000,000 of them. That’s a whole lot of R&B and rap. Or if she had enough of conquering this world of entertainment, she could always get catch a ride on one of Richard Branson’s outer space flights he’s offering for $200,000. She could ride 1,500 times. That should give her something new to sing about.
While it may seem that Beyoncé has a net worth out of this world, everything is relative. If she wanted a fleet of Bugatti Veyron Super Sports cars, she would only be able to purchase 125 of them – while Mark Zuckerberg could buy one new Veyron every week – not only for the rest of his life – but for the next 250 years!
