If you spent Friday nights in the 90’s watching TGIF on ABC, you likely remember the creative sitcom, Boy Meets World in the lineup (it was there from 1993 – 2000). Cory Matthews (played by Ben Savage), George Feeney (William Daniels), Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), and the rest of the cast told tales of adolescence as the main teen characters dealt with school, family, and life issues.
Boy Meets World was a wholesome show – clean comedy with a message. It was a show you wouldn’t worry about letting your kids watch.
Well, if you loved Boy Meets World, you’ll be thrilled to hear that the premiere date of Girl Meets World has finally been announced. We’ve been hearing about the creation of the series for a very long time now. Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are both back in their roles as Cory and Topanga, now married and living in New York with their daughter Riley (played by Rowan Blanchard). The series plans to see Riley and her friends through the same sort of adolescent lessons her parents brought us through in the 90’s.
The official premier date? June 27 at 9:45pm (that’s an odd time, isn’t it?) on the Disney Channel. If you have access to the WATCH Disney Channel streaming platform, you’ll be able to see the premiere episodes as early as May 21st (lucky ducks).
Don’t try to hide your glee. As a former TGIF addict (I used to spend Friday nights having sleepovers at my grandmom’s house, eating snacks and watching the entire line-up), I can certainly understand your excitement.
As a matter of fact, I’m not sure how many times I’m going to end up watching the trailer between now and then!
