Name: Jeffrey Lee Probst
Born: November 4, 1961
Occupation: Television presenter, game show host and executive producer
Jeff Probst was born on November 4, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas. He is the son of Jerry and Barbara Probst, and lived primarily in Bellevue, Washington.
In 1979, he graduated Newport High School and immediately attended Seattle Pacific University. In his youth, he was employed at the Boeing Motion Picture & Television studio, where he worked as a producer and narrator of marketing videos.
He has been married twice before. In 1996, he married Shelley Wright, a psychotherapist, but got divorced in 2001. In 2004, on set of “Survivor: Vanuatu,” he started to date Julie Berry, a contestant, but the relationship only lasted until 2008. Three years later, Jeff married Lisa Ann Russell. He is the stepfather of her two children, Michael and Ava, whose father is actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar of “Saved by the Bell” fame.
At the start of his career, he hosted “Backchat,” an FX network half-hour show that answers viewers’ letters. He also hosted “Sound FX,” a music series that features Orlando Jones. Between 1998 and 2001, Jeff hosted VH1’s “Rock & Roll Jeopardy!” Soon after, Jeff worked as a correspondent for the hit syndicated series “Access Hollywood.”
Of course, his rise to fame started in 2000 when he started hosting the hit reality television series “Survivor.” After 25 seasons, Jeff is still the presenter of the acclaimed competition series. Despite his constant work as presenter and executive producer of the show, Jeff has delved into other formats.
In 2007, Jeff founded The Serpentine Project, a non-profit organization that aims to help foster children transition into a stable adult lifestyle. In 2008, he helped develop the series “Live For the Moment,” a show about helping the dying live out their dreams before their deaths. In 2012, he started to host his own daytime television talk show “The Jeff Probst Show,” which was not renewed after the first season for low ratings.
From 2008 to 2011, Jeff was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
Here’s another interesting tidbit of information: in 1999, Jeff was ordained as a minister by the Universal Life Church Monastery. With this, he remarried his parents for their 35th wedding anniversary, and officiated actress Jenna Fischer’s wedding.
We estimate that Jeff Probst’s net worth is $40 million (2016).
So how much is $40 million really?
$40 million can buy you four million copies of Jeff’s book “Stranded.” $40 million can also buy you more than 1.2 million copies of the very first season “Survivor: Borneo.”
