Shane West born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on June 10, 1978. He is the son of Don Snaith, a drugstore owner and professional musician, and Leah Catherine Launey, a Jamaican-born attorney and professional musician. He has two siblings: Marli Ann and Simone. His parents would divorce when he was just four years old in 1982.
He and his sister moved to Compton, California and later Norwalk, California with their mother. They would attend the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. When he was just 15 years old, Shane would relocate to Los Angeles to start his acting career.
Shane has been involved in a series of relationships, including with Rachael Leigh Cook, Dina Meyer, Monica Keena, Evan Rachel Wood and Sherrie Rose. He still lives in Los Angeles.
Despite his early struggles in the entertainment industry, he would make his acting debut in 1995 in the CBS show “Picket Fences.” This led to appearances in such shows as “Boy Meets World,” “California Dreams,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Sliders.” He would garner more permanent roles in such shows as “Once and Again,” “ER,” “Nikita” and “Salem.” Shane would make his motion picture debut in 1997 in the critically-acclaimed film “The Cider House Rules.” For the next several years, Shane would appear in “Dracula 2000,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” “A Walk to Remember” and “The Lodger.”
He nearly landed the role of John Connor in the 2003 film “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.” It was announced in April 2016 that Shane would star in the Sony serial killer thriller “Z.”
Shane has been nominated for an array of awards, such as Teen Choice Awards, Young Hollywood Awards and the Philadelphia Film Festival’s Rising Star Award.
For as long as eight years, Shane was the lead singer of the punk rock band, Jonny Was. It was able to contribute the soundtrack of the romance “A Walk to Remember.” In 2005, it was confirmed that Shane would be the lead front-man for the Germs during the U.S. and European tour. This stint lasted until 2009.
