Name: Simon Phillip Cowell
Born: 7 October 1959
Occupation: Music producer, Talent Scout, Reality TV Star
Simon Cowell was born to Julie, a ballet dancer, and Eric, an estate agent developer who also worked as an executive in the music industry. He has one full brother and four half-siblings. He grew up in Elstree, Hertfordshire and attended Radlett Prep School and went on to Dover College. He worked odd jobs until his father got him a job at EMI Music Publishing working in the mail room. He worked his way up to be a music publisher, but eventually left to make it on his own.
He worked several places until he settled down at Fanfare Records. He became a partner and began to find success while working for the indie pop label. After getting help from Stock Aitken Waterman, Fanfare ended up under BMG. He began to sign some popular acts and he eventually set up Syco Music.
Cowell joined with Simon Fuller producing the hit show Pop Idol in 2001. He took the show’s concept to the US in 2002 and renamed it American Idol (he have co-judged with both Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey). The popular show is still running. He has also produced shows such as American Inventor, Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent, and X-Factor (in both the UK and US). Simon has also produced such hit music successes as the popular Il Divo and Leona Lewis.
Through his years of work in both production and in front of the camera, we estimate Simon Cowell to have a net worth of $365,000,000 (GBP 226,000,000).
So how much is $365 million dollars really?
With Simon’s love of music and opera, we can only imagine how thrilled he’d be with the Girard Perregaux Opera Three Musical Hours Watch. This amazing timepiece allow the watch to also act as a music box, and it has a miniature keyboard, blades, and a drum inside. A little lever allows the music to be played whenever Simon feels like listening and the music can be personalized so he can listen to Il Divo whenever he feels like it. Made out of white gold and complete with an alligator strap, this little gem only costs $420,000. For that small price he could have 869 of them and never have to purchase a CD again.
