Thierry Guetta was born in Paris, France and raised in the U.S.  He lost his mother at a young age and as a result started videotaping his relatives incessantly.  On a trip back to France to visit relatives, he met up with his cousin, a street artist that goes by the name of Space Invader (sometimes just Invader).  It was Space Invader who first introduced Thierry to street art when being filmed by Thierry.

Thierry continued to videotape street artists at work while in the U.S.  It was with a chance meeting of an artist by the name of Banksy that would change what Thierry did.  Instead of keeping Thierry behind the camera, Banksy suggested Thierry do the art himself.  Although not much else is known about Thierry, he has rapidly become a pop artist icon based out of Los Angeles.

In 2008 he held his first exhibit in Los Angeles, which was highly successful.  The following year Madonna commissioned him to do the cover art for Celebration, her upcoming album.  He has since had shows in New York and London, and has done projects for other musicians and bands.  His works of art are quickly being purchased by both collectors and fans alike.  For large shows he commissions numerous artists to complete his larger than life ideas. Although some feel he is not a true artist and merely ‘steals’ others ideas, there is no doubting his popularity.  Due to his work with some high profile artists and the popularity of his works, we estimate his net worth at $10,000,000 (GBP 6,385,000).

So how much is $10 million dollars really?

Mr. Brainwash seems to like retro, so going a little retro ourselves, we think he might like to invest in some new colors.  Say a box of Crayola Washable Watercolors with a brush included?  For a mere $1.85 each, he could buy 5,405,405 of them and paint most of Los Angeles with them.  Or better yet, he could spend that money on taking some art classes and come up with something unique, proving all those naysayers wrong.
