Most people recognize Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie in the very successful Sex and the City. Not only was she the character in the ongoing series, but also in both movies. The series was on HBO from 1998 until 2004. The movies came out in 2008 and 2010.
Sarah Jessica Parker was born in Ohio. Her mother was a nursery school teacher and her father was a journalist and businessman. She has 7 siblings including her step siblings from her mother’s second marriage. When she was a girl, she spent her time singing and taking part in ballet. She was very good at ballet and the decision was made for the family to relocate to New York so she could be properly trained.
Her parents and agents must have seen plenty of potential in her to move such a large family. Yet she wasn’t the only one that was interested in acting. An early production in New York allowed her and four of her siblings to be in The Sound of Music. She played in the musical Annie as a child from 1977 to 1981. In 1982 she was on TV in the sitcom Square Pegs. This was only on for a year but enough to get her noticed. In 1984 she was cast in Footloose with Kevin Bacon and in Girls Just Want to have Fun with Helen Hunt.
Through the 80s and 90s she was also a fashion model for various clothing lines and a model for different makeup products. In 2004 she was a model for Gap and in 2007 created her own perfume. She has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997. They have three children. She is very active in various charities including PETA and UNICEF. An estimated $90 million is what Sarah Jessica Parker is worth today.
So how much is $90 million dollars really?
There is no doubt that the role Sarah Jessica Parker will always be known for is that of Carrie Bradshaw. Why not live like that writer and great friend did in the series? The apartment where the character Carrie lived would cost about $9 million to purchase in the uptown area of Manhattan. With $90 million she could purchase 10 of them all close enough for her and her friends to be neighbors!
