Name: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Born: 1 November 1973
Occupation: Actress, Model
Aishwarya was born is Karnataka, the youngest of two children to Brindya, a writer and Krishnaraj, a marine biologist. She has one older brother who is an engineer in the merchant navy. During the ninth grade she got her first modeling job and while in college one of her teachers who was also a photographer took pictures of her which later appeared in a fashion magazine. When she was just 18 years old she tried out for a modeling contest and won. She was featured in Vogue magazine and then also began to get work in commercials. She entered the Femina Miss India pageant and took second place to Sushmita Sen. Sen went on to take the title of Miss Universe while Aishwarya went on to take the title of Miss World.
Aishwarya was in the midst of a very successful modeling career when she decided to try her hand at acting. In 1997 she was in the movies Iruvar and Aur Pyar Ho Gaya. Critics were quick to doubt her acting skills and neither films were successful. Her third film, Jeans did very well commercially and Aishwarya was given high marks for her dancing skills. Critics were still doubtful of her acting talents though, and it wasn’t until the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam that she was able to convince the critics and audiences of her acting talents. She went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the movie. She has since been nominated for and won many other acting awards and has appeared in over 40 movies.
Aishwarya has also been a spokesmodel for many companies including Casio, Philips, Fuji film, Titan Watches, and Kalyan Jewellers, to name just a few.
In 2007 Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan, another popular Indian movie star. They are considered one of the most powerful couples in Bollywood. Because of her successful modeling and acting career, we estimate Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be worth $35,000,000 (GBP 22,149,095).
So how much is $35 million dollars really?
Aishwarya is the only spokesperson to have done commercials or ads for rivals Coke and Pepsi. Even so, we have a feeling she rarely drinks either of them. We’re guessing with that gorgeous, clean skin of hers she probably drinks a whole lot of water. With her money, she could buy 157,000,000 bottles of it, if she bought it in bulk that is. Of course, if she had to buy it at a convenience store she could only get 21,131,782 bottles of it. Either way, we’re thinking she’s got enough money to pay for as much as she wants for the rest of her life.
