Name: Pierce Brendan Brosnan
Date of Birth: May 16, 1953
Profession: Actor, producer
Pierce Brosnan was born in London as an only child. His father worked as a carpenter and his mother worked as a nurse. However, his parents separated when he was very young and he was mainly raised by his maternal grandparents, though he did reconnect with his father later in life.
Pierce Brosnan made the decision to drop out of school at the age of sixteen. While education is very important, few can argue that a guy worth approximately $80 million made the wrong choice! His early career choice was in commercial illustrating, but he was quite passionate about the theatre. He was on the stage in London for 3 years before he joined the cast of Remington Steele which ran from 1982 until 1985.
He was the fifth person selected to play the role of James Bond. This was a role that started in 1995 and lasted until 2004. He is regarded as one of the best actors in that prestigious role. He would have continued in that role too if he had wanted to, but publicly stated in 2005 that Daniel Craig, rather than himself, would be the star in the future James Bond movies.
Pierce Brosnan is currently married to his second wife. His first wife died of ovarian cancer. They have one biological child together and he also adopted her two children from a previous marriage. Both of them are very active in environmental conservation and charitable organizations. Since 2001 he has been the ambassador for UNICEF Ireland.
He has also been a huge advocate for the fight against cancer in an effort to continue to honor the memory of his first wife. He is well known for his generous acts such as donating $100,000 in 2007 for new playground equipment to be purchased at a location in Hawaii.
How much is $80 Million Really?
Most of us will agree that part of the thrill with watching Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond movies was the amazing cars and gadgets that he had access to. With those exotic cars costing about $10 million each, he could buy one for each day of the week! With the remaining $10 million, he could buy some of the killer gadgets similar to the ones James Bond used in the movies. Then he would be unstoppable! For example, water jet packs for $100,000 each. There is also the Shark Submarines for $90,000 each.
