One of the hardest names to say in the world of acting may well be Sigourney Weaver. However, it is a name and a face that you won’t forget! This actress has really risen in the ranks and proven that she can take on just about any type of role.

She is well known for her parts in the science fictions films, Alien. However, she has also proven she can do comedy just as well. She held her own in Baby Mama with Tina Fey. Sigourney Weaver has won many awards over the years. She is the only actress to ever win two Golden Globes in the same year!

She grew up in New York and was raised by her mother. Her mother as well as her uncle were both in the acting world, so she was exposed to it all at a very early age. She has always been very giving, and at the age of 18 went to Israel for several months as a volunteer. Her interest in acting began when she went to Stanford University. She went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts at Yale University School of Drama.

Her very first role was in 1977, in the Woody Allen comedy Annie Hall. It seemed that great offers for movie roles just continued to pour in for her. Over the next decade, she was continually working on something. She has been married to Jim Simpson since 1984 and they have one child.

She is worth around $40 million, and donates a great deal of her money to the Red Cross. Sigourney Weaver is very active when it comes to disaster relief efforts.  You may have seen her in ads on TV or the internet asking for donations after various events of mass destruction. She is the honorary chairperson of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. Her role in Gorillas in the Mist helped to develop a strong interest in protecting the habitat for the gorillas.

How much is $40 Million Really?

For Sigourney Weaver, having $40 million means you don’t have to separate fiction from fact! Due to the amount of time she has spent filming science fiction, she is very comfortable there. With a fighter spaceship bed, she could drift off to sleep with such thoughts in her mind. These beds retail for about $180,000. For about $1 million she could fill up the bedrooms in her home with them.

Traveling to poverty stricken locations has always been something that she has done from an early age. Spending $19 million to help with feeding people, improving water systems, and education would go a long way. On average, it would cost $5,000 per person to get agriculture and sanitation up to par.

She could spend the other $20 million helping to investigate the age old question about if there are aliens and if life exists on any of the other planets.
