Jason Behr is the second of five children, with three brothers and a younger half-sister. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but his parents, Patricia Ann Steiner and David Behr, divorced when he was young. Behr and his brothers moved to Richfield with their mother.
Behr’s first acting gig was as sunflower in a school play when he was five, but by the time he was eight, he had graduated to television commercials. In his early career, Behr appeared in 75 commercials. He moved to California in 1992 and three years later landed the role of Tyler Baker in Showtime’s Sherman Oaks.
After the series was cancelled two years later, Behr guest starred in a number of television series, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He later reunited with series star Sarah Michelle Gellar in filming The Grudge.
The Grudge has personal significance to Behr, as that is where he met his wife KaDee Strickland. They met while filming the movie and have since married. Their first child was born in 2013.
Behr is perhaps best known for his role of Max Evans on Roswell from 1999 to 2002. While playing the lead role, he also dated co-star Katherine Heigl, contributing to his fame.
Since Roswell was cancelled, Behr has worked primarily in film, especially independent films. Film credits include Pleasantville, The Tattooist, and The Last International Playboy. In June, 2014, he reunited with Roswell cast mates at the ATX Festival in Austin, TX.
