Name: Emily Jean “Emma” Stone
Born: November 6, 1988
Occupation: Actress, Model
Actress Emma Stone owes her distinctive voice to a childhood malady and her name to the Screen Actors’ Guild rules regarding duplicate names. When Stone first registered with the guild, an actress named Emily Stone was already registered. She initially considered using the stage name Riley Stone, but later decided to make it Emma Stone, based on a nickname her mother had given her. Stone is very close with her mother, even to the point of getting matching tattoos to celebrate her mother’s second year as cancer free.
Stone’s mother, Krista Stone, moved with Emma to Los Angeles in 2004, after she convinced her parents via a power point presentation that she wanted to be an actress and needed to move to California to do so. Her parents, Krista and Jeff, live in Scottsdale, Arizona, where her father is a general contractor and golf course owner and her mother is a homemaker. Krista was diagnosed with breast cancer and in 2010 to celebrate her mother’s anniversary of being cancer-free, Stone asked Sir Paul McCarthy to draw two birds’ feet, to commemorate her mother’s favorite song. Then, the two stone women got matching wrist tattoos. Her distinctive voice is due to nodules on her vocal cords that developed after Stone had colic and chronic crying as an infant.
Comedy has generally been Stone’s primary calling, but her movie career has covered the gambit, from Easy A, her first starring role in the modern retelling of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter” to her role as Gwen Stacy in the reboot of the Spiderman franchise. While filming the Spiderman movies, Stone began dating movie love interest and star Andrew Garfield. Other notable film appearances include Zombieland and Friends with Benefits.
Most recently, Stone has signed on to take over Michelle Williams’ role in the theatrical production of Cabaraet. She has also done voice acting in movies like The Croods and in the video game Sleeping Dogs. She also models for Revlon cosmetics
Stone has an estimated net worth of $8 million.
How much is $8 million?
Eight million is obviously enough to convince Stone’s parents that moving their then-15-year-old daughter to LA for an acting career was a god investment. It also made it possible for Stone to leave sunny Los Angeles and move to New York, where she will make her Broadway debut in Cabaret.
