Name: Keith Lionel Urban
Born: October 26, 1967
Occupation: Singer, songwriter, musician, judge, record producer
Keith Urban was born in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand on October 26, 1967. He is the youngest son of Robert “Bob” Urban, a convenience store owner, and Marienne. His father passed away in December 2015 after a long battle with cancer.
He attended Sir Edmund Hillary College in Otara, South Auckland, New Zealand at the age of 13. After taking guitar lessons from Sue McCarthy, Keith started to enter local competitions and began to act in a local theater company. At just 10 years old, he began to perform at country festivals, and in 1983 he was a contestant on “New Faces,” an Australian television talent show.
For five years, Keith dated Laura Sigler, a regular girl he was engaged to, who broke off the engagement. In 2002, he had been romantically linked with Niki Taylor, an American model and actress. It wasn’t until 2005 that he had apparently found the love of his life: Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman. He met her in January 2005 and married her in June 2006. They now have two children (2015), Rose and Faith.
Keith’s career began in 1990 when he signed with EMI in Australia and released his self-titled debut album. After a couple of years working as a backup or in a minor role, Keith moved to Nashville, Tennessee. In 1997, he formed the band The Ranch, which released a one self-titled album for Capitol Records Nashville. The band saw instant success as it charted two singles on the Hot Country Songs charts that year with “Walkin’ the Country” and “Just Some Love” at numbers 50 and 61.
In 2002, Keith released his second American album Golden Road. Keith won the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 2005 for his fourth singles from the album “You’ll Think of Me.” Since then, he has released several albums, such as “Love, Pain, & The Whole Crazy Thing,” “Defying Gravity” and “Get Closer,” that have been critically acclaimed and popular with the general public.
He has been a media sensation by posing nude in “Playgirl,” appearing on nightly talk shows, becoming a vocal coach on the Australian version of “The Voice” and replacing Steven Tyler as a judge on the hit television show “American Idol.” He also released his own signature line of guitars.
Keith has suffered from personal demons. Following his marriage to Nicole, he checked into the Betty Ford Center for the third time in just eight years.
We estimate that Keith Urban’s net worth is $75 million (2015).
So how much is $75 million really?
$75 million is more than four times the net worth of his former partner, Niki Taylor ($18 million). It’s also more than double that of his fellow “American Idol” judge, Harry Connick, Jr. ($35 million). However, it’s less than the net worth of his wife, Nicole Kidman ($130 million).
$75 million can buy you 250,000 guitars from the Keith Urban signature series. $75 million can also buy you 7.5 million copies of the four-film Nicole Kidman collection on Amazon. Since Keith’s second favorite thing to do is bowl, he could construct a four-lane bowling alley in his home.
