Name: Allen Neal Jones
Born: June 2, 1977
Occupation: Professional wrestler
A.J. Styles was born on June 2, 1977 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He lived in an impoverished childhood with an alcoholic and abusive father. They couldn’t even afford cable television.
His family had moved to Georgia, where he attended Johnson High School in Gainesville. A.J. went to college on a partial wrestling scholarship, but he left his post-secondary studies to try professional wrestling. During his time studying the art of pro wrestling, he earned money by mowing lawns and driving an ambulance.
He is currently married to Wendy Jones with four children; Ajay, Anney, Albey and Avery. They presently reside in Gainesville, Georgia. He is a devout Christian who believes in the idea of “God first and family second.”
A.J. made his wrestling debut in National Championship Wrestling (NCW), a Georgia-based promotion. Known as Mr. Olympia, he lost his first match to Michael Brooks. But after just a few short months, he had won the Television Championship. After NCW merged with NWA Georgia, he was given the name A.J. Styles. He won the Television Championship two more times.
In 2001 and 2002, he attempted to make it big in the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The relationships with the two companies didn’t work out so he tried out with a number of other independent companies.
Calling himself “The Phenomenal One,” he made a name for himself when he signed with Ring of Honor (ROH), in which he had remarkable matches with an array of talents. At the same time, he signed with Total Nonstop Action (TNA), where he became the company’s flagship star for a decade.
After exiting TNA, he wrestled in the independents and eventually returned to ROH. He also had a stint in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where he joined the renowned faction Bullet Club. A.J. Styles became the first American since Brock Lesnar to win the coveted IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
This year, following numerous reports that he had signed with the multi-billion-dollar wrestling empire, he made his triumphant debut with the WWE at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
We estimate that A.J. Styles’s net worth is $4 million (2016)
So how much is $4 million really?
$4 million could likely buy you the Total Nonstop Action (TNA) promotion. Since A.J. is an avid gamer, especially for the Nintendo64, $4 million could buy you 80,000 units of the classic video game console. $4 million could also buy you 160,000 A.J. Styles t-shirts on WWEShop.
