Steve Harvey was born on January 17, 1957 in Welch, West Virginia. He is the son of Jesse Harvey, a coal miner, and his wife Eloise Vera.
Moving to Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from Glenville High School in 1974 and attended Kent State University and West Virginia University. Subsequently, Steve worked as a boxer, an autoworker, an insurance salesman, a carpet cleaner and a mailman.
Steve has been married three times – Marcia Harvey, Mary Shackelford and Marjorie Bridges – and has seven children. His children Karli, Brandi, Broderick, Wynton, Morgan, Jason and Lori. Steve and his current wife presently reside in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a self-proclaimed Christian
He began his stand-up comedy career in 1985 when he performed at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland. It wasn’t exactly a successful start as he was homeless or had to sleep in his car. He entered a series of contests, including the Second Annual Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search, where he was a finalist. He eventually was given a hosting gig of “It’s Showtime at the Apollo.”
Networks seemed to like Steve because he was given the starring role on “Me and the Boys” in 1994. Two years later, he received his own sitcom on the WB Network called “The Steve Harvey Show,” which ran for six years.
Despite his television success, Steve continued to perform stand-up comedy with the Kings of Comedy tour next to Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Bernie Mac. He performed his final stand-up act at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Since then he has embarked upon a wide variety of hosting gigs, including for such shows as “Family Feud,” the syndicated radio show “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” and the now famous “Miss Universe 2015.” Steve has also starred in several films, including “The Fighting Temptations,” “You Got Served” and “Madea Goes to Jail.”
We estimate that Steve Harvey’s net worth is $106 million (2016).
So how much is $106 million really?
Steve is likely the richest host in the history of “Family Feud.” Louie Anderson’s net worth is a paltry $1.3 million, while John O’Hurley’s net worth is around $8 million. The very first host of the show, Richard Dawson, was worth just $100,000.
Steve is an avid golfer, which means $106 million could buy you 3.1 million visits to Stone Mountain Golf Club in Atlanta. He also loves to fish so $106 million could buy you more than 500,000 deep sea fishing trips at any chartered Georgia fishing company.
