David Price was born on August 26, 1985 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is the son of Bonnie and Debbie Price, and has two siblings, Damon and David. In his youth, he was a big Atlanta Braves fan and looked up to outfielder David Justice.
David attended Blackman High School and was celebrated for his impeccable baseball and basketball skills. In high school baseball, he maintained a 0.43 earned run average (ERA) and accumulated 151 strikeouts. David was able to garner numerous accolades, including the Rutherford County MVP Pitcher in 2003 and 2004 and the Rutherford County Male Athlete of the Year in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Although he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of high school, he did not sign because he wanted to attend Vanderbilt University on an academic scholarship.
He is presently in a relationship with Tiffany Nicole Smith, who has been an avid baseball fan.
In 2007, David signed his very first professional MLB contract with the Tampa Bay Rays for a six-year, $11.25 million contract, including a $5.6 million signing bonus, the largest in draft history. He was then sent to the minor leagues to start his baseball career.
David made his major league debut on Sept. 14, 2008 against the New York Yankees by pitching in relief. He would make his first major league start a week later against the Baltimore Orioles. Since then, David has been on a tear by winning more than 100 games, recording nearly 1,500 strikeouts and maintaining an ERA of just over 3.00. He has also won the Cy Young Award and has been an All-Star.
He has worn the uniforms of the Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox. In December 2015, David signed a lucrative seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox, which is the biggest contract for a pitcher in league history.
David has been lauded for using his exorbitant salary for charity. He has his own philanthropic organization called Project One Four.
We estimate that David Price’s net worth is $300 million (2016).
So how much is $300 million really?
$300 million could buy you season tickets for all 30 MLB teams for several seasons. $300 million could also pay for the payrolls of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
