Name: Cody Garrett Runnels
Born: June 30, 1985
Occupation: Professional wrestler and actor
Cody Rhodes was born on June 30, 1985 in Marietta, Georgia. He is the son of legendary professional wrestler Dusty Rhodes and Michelle Rubio. His uncles are legendary wrestlers Jerry Sags and Fred Ottman. Cody has three siblings: Dustin (also known as Goldust), Teil and Kristin.
Growing up in a wrestling family, the business was in his blood. He attended Lassiter High School, where he had a very successful high school wrestling career. In his junior year, Cody won the Georgia state tournament, and then won it again in his senior year. He intended to attend Pennsylvania State University to wrestle collegiately, but he decided to immediately venture into professional wrestling. He also attended acting school in his spare time.
Between 2009 and 2011, Cody was in a relationship with fellow wrestler Layla El. After their relationship came to an end, he started to date ring announcer Eden Reed. They were married in September of 2013.
Since he’s a second-generation wrestler, he was signed to a developmental contract by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in June 2006. He honed his craft there for one year and won the Tag Team Championship and Television Championship.
One year later, Cody made his main roster debut. It was a very interesting first year for Cody as he entered into a feud with megastar Randy Orton, teamed with Hardcore Holly and won the WWE World Tag Team Championships. Cody would also help form a group called Legacy, which featured himself, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr. The faction would soon disband, and everybody went their own way.
For a few years, Cody tried out various gimmicks, including “Dashing” Cody Rhodes, “Disfigured” Cody Rhodes and Stardust.
Cody would go on to win the Intercontinental Championship two times and WWE Tag Team Championships (Goldust and Drew McIntyre). He’s also a two-time Slammy Award Winner.
In May 2016, he was released from his WWE contract. His wife would soon depart from the company as well. But he already has some dates scheduled on the independent circuit. In August, Cody will face off against legendary pro-wrestler Kurt Angle for Northeast Wrestling.
We estimate that Cody Rhodes’s net worth is $1.5 million (2015).
So how much is $1.5 million really?
$1.5 million can buy you a ticket to every edition of Monday Night Raw for several years. Though it had eluded him throughout his entire WWE career, $1.5 million can also buy you 3,000 replica WWE World Heavyweight Championship belts.
