Jackie Bradley Jr. was born on April, 19, 1990 in Richmond, Virginia. He is the son of Jackie Bradley Sr., a bus driver in Richmond, and Alfreda Hagens.
He attended Prince George High School and was named to the 2008 Virginia AAA All-State team. Jackie was even ranked 40th in the Virginia baseball prospect list for the 2008 MLB draft. In 2009, Jackie attended the University of South Carolina and had a stellar season, hitting .349 and scoring 69 runs in just 63 games. He would spend the summer in the Cape Cod League with the Hyannis Mets. A year later, he put forward more great numbers and competed in the 2010 College World Series, earning the CWS Most Outstanding Player.
Jackie has been married to Erin Helring since 2013, and the couple announced in June 2016 that they gave birth to a girl.
In 2011, the Boston Red Sox drafted Jackie 40th overall in the first round. He was sent to the minors and hit a batting average of .315 with 87 walks and 63 RBIs. He was also named the Minor League Defensive Player of the Year by the Red Sox club in 2012. After a couple of stints on the team’s main roster, he would become the regular Red Sox center fielder in 2016 and in the seasons to come.
Adding to the team’s incredible offense, Jackie hit safely in 29 consecutive games between April 24 and May 25 during the 2016 season. He tied former center fielder Johnny Damon for the fourth longest hitting streak in team history.
