Jimmy Kimmel was born on November 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York and lived in the Mill Basin area. He is the son of James John Kimmel, an IBM executive, and Joan Iacono, a housewife. He has two siblings: Jonathan and Jill.
Relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada at just nine years old, he attended the Ed W. Clark High School. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Nevada and then attended the Arizona State University. He was unable to earn a degree during his three years. Jimmy would eventually receive an honorary degree from his first university in 2013.
Jimmy has been involved in three serious relationships. Jimmy was married to Gina Kimmel for 13 years and divorced in 2003. They had two children, Katie and Jane. Jimmy then started to date comedian Sarah Silverman from 2002 to 2008. After they split up, Jimmy started dating Molly McNearney. They have been married since 2009 and have one child, Kevin. The family presently resides in Los Angeles.
Jimmy started his career in radio in high school, which helped him earn a hosting gig for Arizona State University. In 1980, Jimmy would land his very first paid job by co-hosting “The Me and Him Show” in Seattle, Washington. He would then have radio gigs in Palm Springs, Tuscon and Los Angeles.
In 1997, Jimmy would try his hand in television by co-hosting the popular Comedy Central game show “Win Ben Stein’s Money.” Ben Stein and Jimmy would earn an Emmy award for Best Game Show Host. This helped Jimmy co-host and co-produce the network’s “The Man Show” and “Crank Yankers.”
Jimmy would get his biggest break in show business by earning his own late-night talk show on ABC called “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” It has become one of the most popular late-night talk shows on television to this day. He has been nominated for several television awards for the show.
Outside of television, Jimmy has been involved in a lot of film projects, too. He produced and co-wrote the award-winning feature film “Windy City Heat.” Jimmy has also landed roles in several motion pictures, including “Road Trip,” “Garfield: The Movie,” “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” “Project X” and “Ted 2.”
In 2013, Jimmy was given his very own Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
