Rusev was born on December 25, 1985 in Plovdiv, Plovdiv, People’s Republic of Bulgaria. He is the son of Slavka Barnyasheva. Rusev and his family emigrated from Bulgaria to the United States. He has resided in the states of Virginia, California and Florida.

Growing up, Rusev attended a sports school, where he trained and competed in rowing and powerlifting.

Rusev is in a relationship with Catherine Joy Perry, otherwise known as Lana, an American actress, singer, dancer and pro-wrestling personality. They became engaged in summer 2015, which made headlines by TMZ. Rusev and Lana were married in the summer 2016. The couple presently live in Nashville, Tennessee.

When Rusev relocated to the U.S. in the mid-200s to become a pro-wrestler, he started to train under former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstars Gangrel and Rikishi at the Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy. After extensive training, Rusev performed on the independent circuit, including with such promotions as New Wave Pro Wrestling, Vendetta Pro Wrestling (VPW) and others.

In September 2010, WWE signed Rusev to a contract. He was then sent to the WWE’s developmental system Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). Soon after making his FCW debut, Rusev suffered an injury as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus, which caused him to be out of action for six months. He returned to FCW in 2012, but then suffered a broken neck and paralyzed his arm. In order to rehabilitate, Rusev visited Thailand and studied Muay Thai.

When he returned to the WWE, he performed on NXT, which is the rebranded developmental territory. Lana would soon become his “social ambassador.” Rusev would make his main roster debut in January 2014 at the annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view. He would become a full-time performer on the main roster a few months later.

Since then, Rusev maintained an undefeated streak, won the United States Championship on two occasions, joined the faction League of Nations and was even in a brief confrontation with legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Rusev competes for the Raw brand.

Outside of pro-wrestling, Rusev loves vehicles and is an avid car collector.

We estimate that Rusev’s net worth is $500,000 (2016).

So how much is $500,000 really?

$500,000 could help you purchase two Rolls Royce vehicles. $500,000 could also help you pay for a luxurious wedding for the lovely Lana. Also, $500,000 could help you buy tens of thousands of replica United States Championship belts.
