Neville was born in Newcastle, England on August 22, 1986. He is the son of Stephen Satterly and Gill Satterly.

Throughout his youth, he participated in a wide variety of sports, including football, basketball, swimming, hockey and roller hockey. Growing up as a big fan of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), especially The Undertaker and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, he began to learn the craft of professional wrestling when he was 18. Neville started out as St. Joseph’s Hall in Gateshead.

In 2015, Neville married his longtime girlfriend, Natalie. They currently reside in Orlando, Florida.

Neville would make his in-ring debut in March 2004 at Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF). From 2004 to 2012, Neville would compete with promotions all over the world, including 3 Count Wrestling (3CW), Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG), Total Nonstop Action (TNA), Ring of Honor (ROH), Dragon Gate USA and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

In July 2012, Neville signed a contract with WWE and was sent to the company’s developmental territory known as NXT. In January 2013, Neville would make his NXT television debut. For three years, Neville competed in many feuds, including with the likes of Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn and Kassius Ohno. He would go on to win the NXT Championship (a 287-day reign) and NXT Tag Team Championship.

Neville would make his WWE main roster debut in March 2015 on Monday Night Raw. Prior to his injury, Neville fought against numerous big name opponents, such as John Cena, Seth Rollins, Sheamus and Chris Jericho. He would return to action in December 2016 and became the centerpiece of the cruiserweight division. Neville would win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Rich Swann at the Royal Rumble.

“The Man That Gravy Forgot” competed against Austin Aries at WrestleMania XXXIII for the cruiserweight title and retained his championship.
