Name: Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron
Born: December 21, 1977
Occupation: Politician, investment banker and civil servant
Emmanuel Macron was born in Amiens, France on December 21, 1977. He is the son of Jean-Michel Macron, a professor of neurology at the University of Picardy, and Francois Nogues, a general physician.
Emmanuel studied primarily at the Jesuites de la Providence lycee in Amiens. He would finish his final year of schooling at the Lycee Henri-IV in Paris, a high school for the affluent. Upon graduation, Emmanuel attended the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre La Defense, where he earned a DEA degree in philosophy. He would also garner a master’s degree in public affairs at Sciences Po.
Emmanuel’s personal life has been the subject of controversy. He is married to Brigitte Trogneux, who is older than him by 24 years. The couple first met when he was just 15 years of age and was her pupil in school when she was 39. Two years later, they became a couple after much disagreement by his family. She has three children from a previous marriage. The family presently resides in Paris.
He earned one of his first jobs in 1999 when he served as an editorial assistant to Paul Ricoeur, a famous French protestant philosophy and author. Emmanuel spent much of his time working on the bibliography and notes. In 2005, he started a career in civil service at the Ecole nationale d’administration (ENA).
Emmanuel signed up for France’s Socialist Party in 2006. When Francois Hollande became president, Emmanuel served as the deputy secretary-general of the Elysee. He was later appointed as the Minister of Economic and Finance. He announced in 2015 that he would leave the Socialist Party and be an Independent.
A year later, Emmanuel announced the formation of En Marche!, an independent political party that integrated the liberal and progressive movements. Some his political positions include being a major proponent of the European Union (EU), supports an interventionist foreign policy, advocates an open-door immigration policy, wants greater government involvement in the environment and promotes heightened funding for intelligence agencies.
On April 23, 2017, Emmanuel won the first-round of voting, garnering 24 percent of the vote. He faced off against Marine Le Pen on May 7 and won in a landslide. He is now the president of France.
We estimate that Emmanuel Macron’s net worth is $31.5 million (2017).
So how much is $31.5 million really?
$31.5 million can help pay for President Francois Hollande’s expensive haircuts. $31.5 million can also cover the cost of cleaning up after the Antifa riots that have occurred across Paris.
