Name: Jeremy Bernard Corbyn
Born: May 26, 1949
Occupation: Civil servant, activist and politician
Jeremy Corbyn was born on May 26, 1949 in Chippenham, England. He is the son of David Benjamin Corbyn, an electrical engineer, and Naomi Loveday Josling, a mathematics instructor. He has three siblings, including Piers, who is an astrophysicist and businessman.
Jeremy studied at an independent school called Castle House Prepatory School in Newport. He later attended Adams’ Grammar School. Throughout his education, Jeremy joined the Young Socialists, the Labour Party, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and the League Against Cruel Sports.
Jeremy has been married three times, including to Jane Chapman, a politician, and Claudia Bracchitta, a Chilean exile. He is presently married to Laura Alvarez, a former human rights lawyer and owner of a fair-trade coffee import company. He has three children: Benjamin, Seb and Thomas. His family currently lives in Islington, North London.
His first job was that of a local newspaper reporter. He would subsequently spend two years working with the Voluntary Service Overseas in Jamaica. In 1971, Jeremy functioned as an official for the National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers and later as a trade union organizer for the National Union of Public Employees and Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union.
Three years later, Jeremy would be appointed as member of a district health authority and then elected to Haringey Council in the South Hornsey ward. He served until 1983, when he became a candidate for Parliament under the Labour umbrella. Jeremy would be victorious and has since served Islington North as Member of Parliament (MP).
In 2015, Jeremy became leader of the Labour Party, succeeding Ed Miliband, by winning 40.5 percent support from party voters. He is now Leader of the Official Opposition. Ahead of the 2017 UK election, the polls suggest that the Conservatives, headed by Prime Minister Theresa May, will win a majority government.
Many of his political positions have come from the Marxist/left-wing viewpoint, including raising taxes, making dentists part of the NHS and applying greater regulations against business. Jeremy has been vehemently criticized for his flip-flopping on the European Union (EU) and being lukewarm on the Remain campaign. He has been a left-wing Euroskeptic throughout much of his career.
Outside of politics, Jeremy hosted a call-in show on Press TV, an Iranian government television channel.
We estimate that Jeremy Corbyn’s net worth is $2 million (2017).
So how much is $2 million really?
$2 million can help pay for thousands of copies of books on Amazon that cover Jeremy’s political life. $2 million can also help pay for the salaries of just a dozen or so Members of Parliament.
