Sofia Coppola was born in New York City, New York on May 14, 1971. She is the daughter of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and Eleanor Coppola Neil, a set decorator.
In 1989, Sofia graduated from St. Helena High School. Upon graduation, she attended Mills College and the California Institute of the Arts. During her high school days, Sofia interned at Chanel.
Prior to marrying musician Thomas Mars in 2011 and having children with him, Sofia was married to director Spike Jonze in 1999 but later divorced in 2003. She was also in a relationship with Keanu Reeves and Quentin Tarantino. Sofia and her family lived in Paris for several years before returning to New York City.
Sofia’s career started when she was just a child, acting in her father’s films. She appeared in “The Godfather” trilogy, “The Outsiders,” “Rumble Fish,” “The Cotton Club” and “Peggy Sue Got Married.” It wasn’t until “Frankenweenie” that she acted in a picture not associated with her dad.
During her acting days, Sofia modeled and posed for a wide variety of magazines, like Seventeen and YM. Her love of fashion and modeling didn’t end there as she co-founded a clothing line called Milk Fed. She has also filmed many commercials for several clothing retailers, including GAP.
After receiving many negative reviews for her acting, Sofia quit being a thespian and transitioned into filmmaking.
She started off with a short film called “Lick the Star,” which was a critical success. Sofia’s first feature film was “The Virgin Suicides,” another critical success. She rose to prominence as a writer and director for her Academy Award-winning movie “Lost in Translation.” Her next several films received mixed reactions, but Sofia’s latest film, “The Beguiled,” a remake of a 1971 Clint Eastwood movie, has garnered rave reviews and premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
Outside of film, Sofia has experimented with the stage, directing the Giuseppe Verdi opera “La Traviata.”
We estimate that Sofia Coppola’s net worth is $30 million (2017).
So how much is $30 million really?
