Name: Jeffrey Adam Zucker
Born: April 9, 1965
Jeff Zucker was born in Homestead, Florida on April 9, 1965. He is the son of Arline Zucker, a school teacher, and Matthew Zucker, a cardiologist. He was raised in a Jewish household.
Jeff attended North Miami Senior High School, where he was the editor of the school’s newspaper and captained the school’s tennis team. Throughout his high school days, he served as a freelance reporter for The Miami Herald. In 1982, he attended Northwestern University and then Harvard University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History.
He has been married to Caryn Stephanie Nathanson since 1996. The couple has four children and the family presently resides in New York City.
Since he was not accepted to Harvard Law School, Jeff worked as an NBC researcher in 1986 for the 1988 Summer Olympics. He stayed on at NBC for several years, working his way up from a field producer for “Today” to becoming president of the network’s various divisions to eventually serving as CEO of NBC and NBC Universal. Jeff eventually left NBC in 2010 because of a merger deal, earning as much as $40 million.
Jeff had a short stint at Disney-ABC, producing Katie Couric’s daytime talk show. This did not last long as he quit the job shortly after to serve as president of CNN in 2013.
Although CNN had been successful for three years under his watch, 2017 has been a disastrous year for the network. CNN lags behind Fox News and MSNBC, its programs are unable to crack the top 20 in cable news and it has been engulfed in multiple scandals. CNN has also been embroiled in a bitter feud with President Donald Trump and his administration as the real estate billionaire mogul has referred to the network as “fake news” and “very fake news.” The network has been accused of biased reporting and emails reveal that many of its reporters are cozy with Democratic politicians.
When he was 31 and 34, Jeff was diagnosed with colon cancer, but he successfully defeated the illness with surgery and chemotherapy.
We estimate that Jeff Zucker’s net worth is $40 million (2017).
So how much is $40 million really?
$40 million can launch your own news program on YouTube and even pay for salaries of journalists. $40 million can also cover the contracts of some of the network’s biggest names, including Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer and Chris Cuomo.
