Asuka was born in Osaka, Japan on September 26, 1981.

Asuka studied as Osaka University of Arts Junior College, earning a degree in graphic design. During her time in school, Asuka was an avid athlete, concentrating her efforts in badminton and figure skating.

Despite originally planning to go into graphic design, Asuka ventured into professional-wrestling, making her in-ring debut in 2004. Unfortunately, she announced her retirement in 2006 because of chronic nephritis. During her brief hiatus, she launched her own graphic design agency and penned articles for Xbox Magazine, but her love of pro-wrestling brought her back in late-2007.

Asuka would wrestle with a wide array of independent promotions, including Ice Ribbon, JWP Joshi Puroresu, Pro Wrestling Wave, Pro Westling Zero1 and Smash. She toured the United States indy scene, and competed for the likes of Shimmer and Chikara. But her biggest break came in the summer of 2015, when she was hired by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

The company announced in August 2015 that Asuka had been signed to a contract and would compete on NXT. She became an instant success, winning the NXT Women’s Championship in April 2016 against Bayley. Asuka has broken several records during her reign, and continues to successfully defend her title. She is scheduled to face Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III for the second time.

Outside of pro-wrestling, she has started her own beauty salon in Japan.

We estimate that Asuka’s net worth is $1.2 million (2017).

So how much is $1.2 million really?

$1.2 million can help you launch your own independent wrestling promotion, beauty hair salon and graphics design agency. $1.2 million can also purchase every single WWE replica championship.
