Name: Gary Sanchez
Born: December 2, 1992

In 2009, Gary was signed by the New York Yankees as an international free agent. He garnered a contract that contained a $3 million signing bonus. He started off his career in the minors, playing for the Gulf Coast Yankees and Staten Island Yankees. Gary was a behemoth in his final season in Class A baseball, hitting .329 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs in just 47 games.
For the next couple of years, Gary moved up the prospect ranking system, eventually becoming the fourth best prospect in all of baseball. He was called up to the majors in October 2015, debuting as a pinch hitter. Once the regular season was complete, Gary was sent to the Arizona Fall League (AFL), becoming the most valuable player and the second best prospect.
Despite starting the 2016 season in the minors, he was promoted to the majors midway through the season, completing the year with a .299 batting average, 20 home runs and 42 RBIs. In 2017, he started the season on the 10-day disabled list, but he returned with a vengeance: knocking out nearly 30 home runs and driving in just under 100 runs, hitting .273.
Gary switches between backcatcher and designed hitter (DH) from time to time.
We estimate that Gary Sanchez’s net worth is $3 million (2017).
So how much is $3 million really?
$3 million can cover the salaries of several minor league players who have been called up to the majors as part of the September call up. $3 million can also pay for all of the front-row seats at Yankee Stadium against the Boston Red Sox the entire season.
