Sean Hayes was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 26, 1970. He is the son of Ronald Hayes, a lithographer, and Mary Hayes, head of a non-profit food bank.

He attended Glenbard West High School and later studied at Illinois State University, but did not finish. In 2013, Sean received an honorary Ph.D. from Illinois State University.

Many had questioned Sean’s sexual orientation, and the actor has kept it quiet for a long time. In 2014, Sean announced that he would be marrying Scott Icenogle, his long time significant other.

Just before his university graduation, Sean was offered a job as music director of the Pheasant Run Theater. For years, Sean was employed as a classical pianist, but he practiced improv at The Second City group in Chicago in his spare time.

In 1995, Sean relocated to Los Angeles, California, finding a wide array of employment opportunities in show business, including a stand-up comedian, television appearances and stage work. He made his film and television debut in 1996, landing parts in the movie “A&P” and the television series “Silk Stalkings.”

His biggest success to date was his role as Jack McFarland in the smash hit television series “Will & Grace.” He co-starred in 188 episodes and won a Primetime Emmy Award and two Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards. Sean reprised his role in the 2017 return of “Will & Grace.”

Although he is mostly known for his work on the NBC show, Sean has performed a wide array of roles on both the big and small screen: “Cats & Dogs,” “The Cat in the Hat,” “The Bucket List,” “The Three Stooges” and “The Emoji Movie.” He has also appeared on episodes of “30 Rock,” “Portlandia,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Scrubs.”

Sean’s next big project is the 2018 sequel to “The Three Stooges.”

We estimate that Sean Hayes’s net worth is $18 million (2017).

So how much is $18 million really?

$18 million can pay the tuition of dozens of students to earn a Ph.D. from Illinois State University. $18 million can also buy an apartment for all cast members of “Will & Grace” in New York City.
