Name: Paul John Manafort Jr.
Born: April 1, 1949
Occupation: Lobbyist, strategist and investor
Paul Manafort was born in New Britain, Connecticut on April 1, 1949. He is the son of Paul J. Manafort Sr., a mayor and World War II veteran, and Antoinette Marie Cifalu, and he is the grandson of James A. Manafort, an Italian immigrant and entrepreneur.
Paul attended Georgetown University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1971. He also enrolled in Georgetown University Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1974.
Since August 1978, Paul has been married to Kathleen Bond Manafort, an attorney. They have two daughters: Andrea, a lawyer, and Jessica, a movie director. He and his wife presently reside in New York.
Paul practiced law in Washington, D.C. when he worked with the Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease between 1977 and 1980. He eventually turned to politics and worked on the presidential campaigns of Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bob Dole. Paul originally joined the 2016 Donald Trump presidential campaign in March of 2016 as a delegate hunter, but he was later promoted to be campaign manager, replacing Corey Lewandowski three months later.
Outside of political campaigns, Paul was also an avid lobbyist, co-founding Black, Manafort & Stone in 1980. Sixteen years later, Paul co-founded Davis, Manafort, and Freedman. Paul has been associated with lobbying efforts that involve an Angolan rebel group, former Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos, the Kashmiri American Council and former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
In October 2017, Paul was indicted on 12 charges by a federal grand jury pertaining to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Donald Trump presidential campaign. Some of the charges include a conspiracy to launder money, failure to report foreign bank accounts, acting as an unregistered foreign agent and making false statements. He had also apparently been under an FBI investigation since 2014.
We estimate that Paul Manafort’s net worth is $28 million (2017).
So how much is $28 million really?
$28 million can pay for about two percent of a United States presidential campaign. $28 million can also pay for the cost of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.
