Dave Hester was born in Oceanside, California on July 23, 1964.
Many reports suggest that Dave is married because he posts many pictures of himself and another lady on social media regularly. He does have one child, Dave Jr., and the family presently resides in Southern California.
In 1986, he became interested in storage auctions, eventually becoming a storage auctioneer six years later. Dave founded two companies: Newport Consignment Gallery and the Rags to Riches thrift store. He shut down those businesses in 2011, and he now owns Dave Hester Auctions, an auction house.
Dave joined the cast of A&E’s hit reality television series “Storage Wars” in 2010, but he was dismissed from the show in 2012. In that same year, Dave filed a lawsuit against the producers, claiming that he was wrongfully terminated and that the series was staged. The case was settled in July 2014.
In 2014, Dave returned to the program, and immediately generated controversy when he got into a profanity-laced fight with some of his co-stars. Known as The Mogul, Dave continues to appear in the series to this day, and coming across valuable items, like a painting that he purchased for $750 and sold for $155,000.
With his newfound fame, Dave produced a DVD that teaches viewers about the storage auction industry.
Outside of auctions and television, he works a lot with the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dave also rescues pugs from animal shelters and enjoys traveling to Mexico and Alaska when he is on vacation.
In 2006, Dave endured a DUI conviction and was forced into community service by working at a local Goodwill location.
