Urban Meyer was born on July 10, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio. He is the son of Bud and Gisela Meyer, and he has two siblings: Gigi Escoe and Erika Meyer Judd. The family was raised in Ashtabula, Ohio.
Urban attended Saint John High School, and then enrolled in the University of Cincinnati where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He later studied at Ohio State University, earning a Master’s Degree in sports administration.
He has been married to Shelley Mather Meyer, a nurse, since 1986. The couple has three children: Nicole, Gisela, and Nathan. The family current resides in Dublin, Ohio.
Urban has been entrenched in the world of sports since his teen years. In 1982, he was drafted in the 13th round as a shortstop by the Atlanta Braves organization during the 1982 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. He only spent two seasons in the minor leagues, spending his spare time concentrating on football, playing defense back at the University of Cincinnati.
Despite his attempts to play professionally, Urban set his sights on coaching college football, something he has excelled at for 25 years. He has won three national championships, three SEC Eastern Division titles, four Big Ten East Division titles, and two Big Ten victories. Because of his success, Urban has been hired by a wide range of institutions, including Bowling Green, University of Cincinnati, Utah, University of Florida, and Ohio State.
Dedicated to football and education, Urban has raised $50 million for the Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, a scholarship meant for first-generation students who face financial difficulties, and he has contributed to the Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin Family Scholarship to help the Utah football program.
In August 2018, Urban was assigned to paid administrative leave by Ohio State once it was reported that Urban knew about spousal abuse allegations made against assistant coach Zach Smith prior to his termination the previous week. A $500,000 probe is taking place, and many reports suggest that Urban will be suspended.
We estimate that Urban Meyer’s net worth is $8.9 million (2018).
So how much is $8.9 million really?
$8.9 million can cover the cost of new equipment, uniforms, and staff for your college football team. $8.9 million can also construct a new football field.
