Name: Colin Rand Kaepernick
Born: November 3, 1987
Colin Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 3, 1987. He is the son of Heidi Russo, but he was put for adoption and was taken in by Rick and Teresa Kaepernick. He has two siblings: Kyle and Devon.
His family relocated to California when he was four years old, attending John H. Pitman High School. When he graduated, he enrolled in University of Nevada, playing college football as a quarterback, though he also excelled in baseball.
Colin has been in a serious relationship with Nessa Diab, a radio personality and television host, since July 2015.
Although he had the opportunity to play for the Chicago Cubs in 2009, he turned down the offer and continued with his passion for college football. In more than 50 games at the University of Nevada, Colin maintained a 58 percent completion rate, throwing 10,000 yards and 82 touchdowns – he also rushed more than 4,000 yards.
In 2011, Colin was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. During his first three full seasons, Colin threw nearly 8,000 yards and completed 50 touchdowns. Because of his incredible talent, the team signed him to a six-year contract extension worth $126 million, including $54 million in potential guarantees and another $13 million full guarantee.
By the 2015 season, Colin’s performance started declining. He only played nine games, throwing just 1,600 yards and six touchdowns. He did not play in 2017 and 2018 as no team signed him to a contract. His conduct off the field also became a problem for both the 49ers and the NFL: he wore headphones from Beats by Dre during press conferences, despite Bose being the league sponsor; he used inappropriate language; and, of course, he kneeled during the national anthem.
In addition to football, Colin has become a political activist, complaining about treatment of black people, telling reporters in 2016:
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
In September 2018, Nike made Colin the face of the brand’s 30th anniversary of the “Just Do It” campaign as part of a lucrative endorsement deal.
He has also received numerous awards, honors, and distinctions for kneeling during the Star-Spangled Banner.
We estimate that Colin Kaepernick’s net worth is $30 million (2018).
So how much is $30 million really?
$30 million represented one-quarter of Colin Kaepernick’s expensive and lengthy contract. $30 million is also how much certain shareholders lost when the stock plunged more than two percent when the announcement was made.
