Name: Tonya Maxene Harding
Born: November 12, 1970
Occupation: Athlete and media personality
Tonya Harding was born in Portland, Oregon on November 12, 1970. She is the daughter of Albert Gordon Harding and LaVona Golden, a waitress. She has one brother, Chris Davison.
Tonya attended Milwaukie High School, but she dropped out in her second year to concentrate on skating. She would eventually earn her General Equivalency (GE) Diploma.
She was married to Jeff Gillooly, a civil servant, from March 1990 to August 1993. She then married Michael Smith in 1995, divorcing one year later. In June 2010, she married her third husband, Joseph Price, an entrepreneur. They have one child, Gordon.
In the 1980s, Tonya honed her skating skills, working with coach Diane Rawlinson. She was an instant success, placing sixth in the 1986 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, fifth in 1987, and third in 1989. After achieving several modest successes, Tonya was the first woman to successfully execute a triple axel, two triple axels, and a triple axel combination. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t win a U.S. Championship until 1992, and then again in 1994, which was an honor that was stripped for her assault on Nancy Kerrigan.
After the tragic affair with Nancy, Tonya would become a national sensation.
A sex videotape and images were highly publicized in the media, and Penthouse magazine published stills from a sex tape and announced a new 35-minute film. She would appear in a AAA professional-wrestling show as a manager for a stable that featured legend Eddie Guerrero. She appeared in a low-budget motion picture titled “Breakaway,” as well as several television series, including “The Weakest Link,” “The Smoking Gun,” and “Dancing with the Stars.”
In 2002, Tonya transitioned from skating to boxing by first participating in a celebrity boxing event and then professional boxing – she put together a 3-3 record.
Her story was eventually turned into a Hollywood motion picture called “I, Tonya” starring Margot Robbie, Bobby Cannavale, and Allison Janney. It was also announced in September 2018 that she would return to reality television for the upcoming HGTV and Food Network program “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition.”
We estimate that Tonya Harding’s net worth is $50,000 (2018).
So how much is $50,000 really?
$50,000 is how much the typical family will spend for their daughter to participate in ice skating. $50,000 is also the cost of leasing a business in her hometown of Portland, Oregon.
